A reminder…

Life here at HOPE Center has been hectic.

Moving, purging dusty files that have been piling up in the corners of our office as we attend to the daily crisis calls and people who walk through our doors.  Wondering how many pens an office of 5 really needs, seeing how generous our community really is as we compile all that has been given to us in one space.

We are in our new home and starting to settle into a new routine.  As many of you know we had some hiccups with our e-mail and internet so if you have been trying to get a hold of us that we we are now back online!

And with all of the tasks and checklists and practical pieces I have been in a state of looking for the next thing to check off- until this phone call.

I received a phone call this morning from a company out of state who had wanted to make a donation in honor of an employee who works in their MN office who had lost a child to domestic violence.  Her ex had murdered her after trying to end the relationship.  And there was silence for a moment until I shared that that is why I do this too… my friend was murdered as a result of domestic violence.  And in the midst of the hustle and bustle, the practical pieces of keeping the phones ready and the lights on I was reminded of the greater reason why I do what I do each day.

Sometimes it is good to be reminded.
